Greened Up to celebrate the arrival of Summer!

A great start for the New Folk Night at The Telecom Club, Park Road, Ryde

The night was brilliant, a complete success for a newby, with a few old faces and couple of new ones! In between myself (Ali), Shaymus, Carolyn, Barry, Steve, Monica, Shirley, Stan the Man and Matt, we put on a great night, had fun and the pub locals stuck around to listen and enjoy.

Next Date: Sunday 8th June 2008.

Planning it for 2nd Sunday of the month for the time being.

Seeing in the Summer at the Jack-in-the-Green Festival 2008

The Oystergirls (and the odd Men O' Wight) saw the summer in whilst dancing in Hastings. A busy weekend of dancing and music was enjoyed by a 30-strong Isle of Wight Morris contingency.

The Oystergirls have a summer programme which I will be publishing in due course.

Enjoy!

Diary of a Folk Blogger

Thought I'd keep an online diary of what goes on here in my little folk world.

So far this last couple of weeks - have played - Bath, Winchester and Niton - supporting Blue Fox, with Tali Trow and The Wellbeing.

Last night, Tali Trow invited me to play with him at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth to support Brighton-based Indie band, Passenger. I got the chance to play my electric 5-string fiddle, as well as my acoustic.

We did a 30-minute slot, doing many of the Wellbeing tracks. It was great - amazing sound on stage, and good audience feedback. I am so used to playing as a duo so it was not nerve-wracking.

Tali Trow and the Well-Being are touring - check out - http://www.wellbeingmusic.co.uk/ for details. I will be doing more shows with them - Southampton, Brighton and possibly London. Great bunch of guys.
